NERC Logo Contest

Now that we have the theme for the conference, "Massage Therapy: Working Hand in Hand for Health", we need a logo to go with it. So put on your creative thinking caps and submit your ideas. If you submit the winning design, the chapter will pay for your NERC registration and for your room.
Keep in mind, as you design the logo, it needs to be sized for use on t-shirts and on other give-away items.
You can submit your logo in color or in black and white. If using color, submit withcolors that you want us to use.
Submit all logos as a .jpg file They must be received no later than August 1, 2008.

Email your submissions, along with your name, phone number, email address, and AMTA number to Lee Stang.
GOOD LUCK to all!

Call for Volunteers

Although the details of where and when have yet to be determined, we do know that we will need volunteers at the hospitality booth, and to give traveler’s and chair massage. And we are looking for creative ideas or suggestions to make this a fun and exciting conference.
If you are willing to volunteer, or contribute ideas or suggestion, contact Kerry Methot or Cass Crewdson, our NERC representatives, at neconference@amtactchapter.org.

May 5th was our “Chapter Day at the Legislature.” Sixteen AMTA members and CT Licensed Massage Therapists, provided chair massage to Senators, Representatives, government officials, and staff.

More important, we continued to reinforce our visibility with the governing body that makes the laws - massage included. We were able to speak with Karen Buckley-Bates from the Health Department, Senator Harris from West Hartford, and Mayor Michael Jarjura from Waterbury among others. We are encouraged because these contacts will help us in the near future as we make more efforts to see the enforcement of current laws become a reality. Our presence on Legislation Awareness Day each year is just one aspect of our Government Relations Program. All in all it was a very good day. We were joined by our lobbyist Judy Yost and provided 140 massages to some very tense individuals! This event is held around the same time every year. Mark your calendars and think about joining us next year.
