Sports Team

The CT Sports Massage Team has been providing event sports massage throughout CT since the 1960’s. The team has received the AMTA National Sports Massage Team of the Year award on numerous occasions and has had four members receive the National Outstanding Sports Massage Therapist Award.

Our mission is to provide professional quality sports massage to participants at various amateur and professional sporting events within CT.

Our goal is to promote the benefits of massage in general, and sports massage in particular to the public. The team also strives to enhance the image of the AMTA.

Student Involvement

Students are a large part of the CT Sports Massage Team program. By observing at events alongside licensed therapists students have an excellent opportunity to learn in real life situations. It is important that students be appropriately trained for this work.

It is the policy of the CT Sports Team to allow attendance by students that are currently enrolled in a sports Massage class and are student members of the AMTA. Students may help with paperwork intake and organization, but may not perform any hands-on work.

If sports massage at an event is a part of a student's school curriculum and the teacher is present and an AMTA member, then hands-on work by the student is allowed. Teachers should contact the Sports Team coordinator prior to the event.

General Volunteers

Periodically the sports massage team utilizes other general volunteers. These individuals may be family members or volunteers assigned to the massage tent. They can be utilized to assist in signing athletes in, getting needed supplies, and being an all around “ go-fer" for the event coordinator. The use of these volunteers is completely at the discretion of the Event Coordinator for any given event.
